Prince Edward County Deputy Fire Chief Rob Rutter estimates damages to be approximately $150,000 following this morning’s barn fire.
Flames were reported just before 4 a.m. at a hobby farm at 1122 Danforth road near Benway Road in the Wellington area.
The barn was fully engulfed in flames when fire crews from Consecon, Wellington, and Picton arrived on scene and the roof of the older two storey barn had already collapsed.
The goats and two dogs escaped unharmed from the blaze.
The fire was declared under control at 6:30 a.m. and 30 firefighters remained on scene well into the morning.
Rutter says the cause is suspected electrical.
There were no injuries.
