The Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board has been nominated for a tourism award for its work in attracting golfers to come play in the area.
The nomination is for the 2018 Golf in Ontario program, which took more than 375 inquiries over the season, showcasing the many golf courses our area has to offer.
The marketing board says outings were booked for groups between two and 70 people, with the program generating close to $200,000 in revenues, plus another $150,000 in revenue to referral businesses like hotels and restaurants.
The average spend per person through the program was $520, with the board noting that on average, golfers will spend 1.25 times more than the typical traveller.
The Ontario Tourism Awards of Excellence will take place in Collingwood at the end of October.
