Round 1 in the “Battle of Quinte” goes to the Wellington Dukes.
Wellington scored 3 times in the second period to beat the Trenton Golden Hawks 6-3 at the Dunc McDonald Community Gardens. That snaps Trenton’s 5 game winning streak.
Frank Vitucci scored 2 goals and 2 assists while Jake Gagnon chipped in with a goal a 3 assists. Dylan Massie and Quinn Hanna added a goal and assist each. Ben Addison rounded out the scoring for Wellington.

It was a chippy game with 17 power plays.
The Dukes improve to 6-1 while the G-Hawks are 5-2. Both teams head to Buffalo for the annual Showcase Tournament beginning today.
In Junior “C” hockey, the Napanee Raiders blew out the Georgina Ice 8-2 to improve to 3-0. Brodie Maracle and Justynn Steven scored twice.
The Gananoque Islanders were 9-2 winners over the Campbellford Rebels.
And in Greater Metro Junior “A” Hockey League St. George knocked off the Northumberland Stars 11-0.
