It’s safe to say that the Quinte region is enjoying a sort of economic growth spurt these days.
At today’s (Thursday) meeting of the Quinte Economic Development Commission, Belleville’s Manager of Economic and Strategic Initiatives Karen Poste was happy to announce that to the end of August the city issued building permits for $108 million and a record percentage of that total came from the private sector, making up $107 million of it.
Meanwhile, in Quinte West, the Bargain Club has opened in the formerly vacant Giant Tiger store downtown and it has also purchased the old General Electric building to be used as a distribution centre.
And, in Brighton about 75% of the property available in the first phase of a new industrial park has already been spoken for and hydro won’t be in for another couple of months.
