A generous donation from Fitzgibbon Construction has the Festival of Lights Christmas Display committee lighting up.
Fitzgibbon President Greg DeMille presented a $10,000 cheque to Mayor Mitch Panciuk and committee chair Annis Ross on Wednesday at City Hall.
Ross says the donation isn’t earmarked for anything specific but the committee wants to make this six week display one of a kind.

Ross said the committee does rely on donations such as this one to continue the annual lights display which got its origins in the mid-1950s.

The kickoff for this year’s display is set for Friday, November 15 at Jane Forrester Park.
DeMille said this donation from the company was a decision made by their employees as a way to give back to the community which has been so generous to them.
He said this is not the first time the company has made a donation to the city, but it is the largest donation of this kind the company has made.
Mayor Panciuk says the donation will make a big difference to the display and they are well on their way in improving the display for this year.
