Drivers beware, Quinte West OPP officers are taking traffic safety very seriously.
To the end of August this year they’ve laid over 3,500 speeding charges in the city.
That’s more than triple the number for the same period last year.
Quinte West OPP Detachment Commander Christina Reive says having officers getting used to patrolling Highway 401 prior to the detachment officially taking traffic control boosted the numbers.
Also yielding results have been focused campaigns such as those run by the OPP on long weekends.
