Despite the wishes of a lot of residents living in the area of 2nd Dug Hill Road and Telephone Road it doesn’t look as though the City of Quinte West is going to try to stop trains from blowing their whistles when going through the neighbourhood.
Residents had presented a petition to council asking for the trains to stop the warning blasts.
However, Tuesday, the city’s Public Works Committee recommended that council not try to stop the train whistles.
Mayor Jim Harrison says the whistles are an important safety measure.
There are 21 rail crossings in the City of Quinte West.
