A proposed sand and gravel pit in Prince Edward County which left unanswered questions last month is back in front of county council tonight (Tuesday).
The proposed sand and gravel pit to be located at 1202 Ridge Road is on the agenda, with a recommendation of approval from County staff.
The Greer family, property owners, are seeking to have 35 acres of farm property, currently being used primarily to grow asparagus, turned into a sand and gravel pit.
Council is also seeking approval of the zoning amendment.
Councillors will hear six deputations in regards to the Greenridge Farm Pit, which could only produce the minimum of 20,000 tonnes of aggregate a year.
The pit could be operational from between 40 and 75 years, depending on the amounts extracted.
Residents who spoke during the August planning meeting are concerned about the water quantity and quality if the pit is developed.
The motion was delayed until today to allow councillors and staff to take a longer look at all the information provided.
Council meets at 7 p.m. at Shire Hall.
