Maclans half way to SHBL title
Maclan Designs have taken a 2-0 lead in the South Hastings Baseball League championship series for the Thornton Portt Memorial Trophy.
Two run doubles by Matt Richardson and Kyle Gould made the difference as Maclan Designs outlasted the Bain Excavating Rockies 8-7.
Adam Dutton pitched a complete game.
Game 3 is Monday night in Melrose.
The “B” championship continues tonight with the Read Young Guns leading Melrose Tal Trees 1-0.
The Wellington Dukes scored 3 unanswered goals in the third period to beat the Cobourg Cougars 4-2 in Junior “A” exhibition play.
Tanner Tolliver, Evan Miller, Ben Woodhouse and Landon McLellan scored for Wellington Matt Kealey went the distance in goal stopping 25 shots.
The Dukes are 2-0 in pre season. They play their final exhibition game in Trenton tomorrow night. Meanwhile the Golden Hawks are in Brantford tonight.
The new Ontario Junior Hockey League season opens September 6th for both teams.
There is Junior “C” pre season play tonight in Wellington. The Picton Pirates host the Gananoque Islanders at 7:30 at the Lehigh Arena.
