Staff with the City of Quinte West believe it’s time to switch gears when it comes how the Robert Patrick Marina area in Centennial Park in Trenton is used.
The city has an agreement with a business known as StraightTurn Wake Park which offers people recreation in the form of wakeboarding and snowboarding in and around the marina.
A five-year lease on the property is coming up in the spring of next year and there has been no activity at the marina at all this season and city staff have been unable to contact the business for comment.
Staff says the marina isn’t being properly maintained and would be better served by the city running it and offering it for more docking and to increase facilities for ongoing fishing derbies in the city.
Quinte West’s Corporate Finance Committee will decide on staff”s recommendation to not renew the lease with StraightTurn Wake Park when it comes due at its meeting Tuesday.
