Belleville police officers suffered minor injuries during attempts to arrest a 31-year-old woman late Monday afternoon.
An off-duty officer in a north end store noticed someone stealing something and tried to control a woman but was assaulted and the suspect got away.
Other officers responded to the call and located a suspect on a nearby side street. Once again, there was a physical altercation.
A Belleville woman was arrested and stolen property was seized. She was also breaching a probation order and there had been a warrant out for her arrest. She now faces another eight charges and is in custody pending a bail hearing.
