The newly founded Quinte West Community Narcotics Committee will be hosting an open house this week in support of International Overdose Awareness Day.
This Wednesday, August 28, from 1-3 p.m., members of the public are invited to the Quinte West Fire Department on Dixon Drive in Trenton to speak to several of the organization’s representatives to learn more about what each group has to offer to the community of Quinte West.
The Narcotics Committee is made up of the Quinte West OPP, Quinte West Fire Department, Hastings Prince Edward Public Health, Hastings-Quinte EMS, Highland Shores Children’s Aid Society, Hastings Prince Edward Addiction and Mental Health, Quinte West Youth Centre, Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board and the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board.
Opioid overdoses are claiming the lives of thousands of people across Ontario and are steadily increasing.
