A significant donation has been made to the Belleville General Hospital Foundation in memory of Donald and Irene Bateman.
The Foundation received over $626,000 from their estate following their deaths.
The money will be used to purchase much-needed priority medical equipment at the hospital.
A plaque located in the In-Patient Rehabilitation Lounge in the Charlotte Sills Wing on the third floor marks the generous gift.
Donald Bateman was a longtime farmer in Thurlow township and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Tweed.
Sarah “Irene” Bateman was a retired teacher with the Hastings County Board of Education.
