Yesterday morning at 11:30 a.m., police received a 911 call regarding a domestic assault in Belleville.
Police arrived but the suspect had already left the scene. A woman had minor injuries including a cigarette burn. Later that night around 10 p.m., the man returned to the residence. Police quickly arrived and arrested a 41-year-old Toronto area man on charges of assault and assault with a weapon.
He was held for a bail hearing. His name was withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
