Officials in Lennox and Addington County are expecting hundreds of people to come to the area this weekend, as they host their seventh annual MEGA Geocaching event.
It kicks off with a canoe and kayak event Friday and runs through Saturday evening.
Community Development Officer Rob Plumley tells Quinte News geocaching is like a high-tech treasure hunt.
He adds that, while the idea might be new to some, the event is actually a pretty big tourist draw for the region.
Plumley says it’s the longest running consecutive geocaching event in the country and the only one in Canada this year.
He says a representative from Groundspeak, the Seattle company that spearheads the MEGA events, will be hosting a meet and greet as well, with that part of the event expected to draw close to 200 people.
