Prince Edward County members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 30 calls for service in the past 24 hours. Incidents overnight include:
Just before 8 p.m., OPP officers received multiple calls of a possible impaired driver on Loyalist Parkway near County Road 1 in Hillier Ward.
An officer located the vehicle east of County Road 2.
The male driver was arrested and taken to detachment but the male went into medical distress before breath tests could be completed.
He was transported to Picton Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Breath tests were conducted at the hospital after assessment and as a result the male was charged accordingly.
Kazimierz Zieba, age 61 from Mississauga has been charged with following offences:
- Operation while Impaired
- Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Drive motor vehicle not equipped with an approved ignition interlock device while prohibited from doing so
The accused was released from custody to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday September 25, 2019 in Picton. He was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
OPP officers shortly after 10 p.m. attended to an unwanted person call at a residence on Main Street in Picton. Investigation determined that the male at the residence was subject of a serious domestic assault investigation in a neighbouring police jurisdiction. The male was arrested and transported for follow-up investigation by that service.
While officers were at the unwanted person complaint, OPP received a report of a fail to remain collision on County Road 12 near Windatt Lane in Hallowell Ward just after 10 p.m. The vehicle was located parked at Windatt Lane. Investigation determined that the female driver had been drinking. She was arrested and taken to Picton Memorial Hospital for breath tests as the qualified breath technician was conducting tests there on the previously mentioned subject.
Erin Allison Carter, age 41, from London, Ontario has been charged with
- Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Fail to remain at accident
The accused was released from custody to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday September 11, 2019 in Picton. She was also issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension.
Officers then investigated a report of an intoxicated male at a resort on County Road 12 in Hallowell Ward at about 11:20 p.m. where the male had discharged a fire extinguisher at persons and objects. It was also reported that the male had entered some vehicles in the resort. The theft amounted to approximately $30 in coins.
Avery Kerr, a 19-year-old male from Oshawa has been charged with one count each of Theft under $5,000 and Mischief under $5000.
The accused was released from custody to attend the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 in Picton.
