A traffic complaint reported to Ontario Provincial Police on August 13, 2019 around 6 a.m. on Highway 401 eastbound, has lead to a Quebec motorist facing charges in Greater Napanee courts.
Officers responded to a report of an erratic driver speeding on Highway 401 in Tyendinaga Township.
A patrolling officer attempted to stop the eastbound SUV, when the driver took off at high speed.
The suspect vehicle was located in Odessa, and the driver was arrested after a search of the area.
OPP canine and Emergency Response Officers were involved.
Beniamin Cristian Baltato, aged 24, of the Montreal area faces the following charges:
- Race a motor vehicle – Excessive Speed
- Possession of a credit card (stolen)
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
Beniamin Cristian Baltato remains in custody.
