Brighton council has voted to become partners with the Quinte West Physician Recruitment and Retention Program.
Mayor of Brighton Brian Ostrander says entering into a partnership will save taxpayers money over time as council won’t have to consider hiring its own recruiter.
The mayor says the move also makes sense as Brighton is already a partner with Quinte West in the regional family health team.
Council had already set aside $25,000 as its share in the operation of the Quinte West Physician Recruitment Program in this year’s budget.
Meanwhile there’s concern about the future of the Brighton Off Leash Dog Recreation Area (BOLDRA).
According to a delegation speaking to Monday night’s Brighton council meeting, the ownership of the County Road 64 property that the dog park is located in has changed and there’s a chance the new owner will use it for other purposes soon.
The delegation asked that council support a search for a new location for the off leash area.
Council is asking for legal advice regarding its agreement regarding the current dog park.
