Quinte West firefighters along with employees at Cascades paper mill in Trenton fought a fire in a large dryer this morning.
Full-time and all volunteer firefighters with the Trenton fire hall were called out at 4:30 this morning (Tuesday) to the plant on Marmora Street.
Employees were already fighting the dryer fire when the fire department arrived.
At one point there were reports of sparks coming from the roof.
Crews have controlled the fire but continue to look for hot spots in that part of the building.
Dryer fires are a fairly common occurrence at the paper mill.
