UPDATE @ 2:30 p.m. on August 8/19: The trailer parked at the Coleman Street parkette has since been removed.
Belleville Mayor Mitch Panciuk is addressing what some are calling a “tent city” that seems to be setting up near the downtown core.
A pair of tents and a trailer are set up in a small park on Coleman Street, with one of those tents being there for at least a week and people with nowhere else to stay are living inside.
On CJBQ’s Lorne Brooker Show this week Mayor Panciuk said it’s a delicate situation and they’ve reached out to some other agencies for help.

Panciuk says it’s a sensitive issue and they’re working with other outside agencies to find a solution to the situation.
The mayor’s comments come after at least one incident in recent weeks when someone went down to the property and threw the people’s belongings into the river.
