The Minister of Finance, Bill Morneau was on The Lorne Brooker Show this morning (Wednesday).
He says while there have been many challenges over these past few years, he has a positive outlook on where things currently stand.
He says with unemployment at the lowest it has been in 40 years, plus investments into the CPP, people have a reason to see things in a positive light.
Morneau admits there are still challenges that people face, especially in the face of cuts, but he feels the people can feel confident in the investments the federal government is making in retirement funding, healthcare and the child care benefit.
He told Lorne Brooker the government needs to continue to recognize they need to have Canadians’ backs and keep investing in the things that can make a real difference.
Morneau also took the opportunity to note the financial situation looks quite positive as there have been a million new jobs created in the last four years, unemployment is at its lowest level in 40 years and the deficit is being reduced each year.
He also spoke about international pressures and how that will affect the Canadian economy.
Morneau noted that back at home, he feels middle income families are doing well when compared worldwide.
