A man behaving strangely while wading in the Moira River in Belleville was arrested yesterday afternoon (Monday).
City police, Hastings-Quinte paramedics, and firefighters responded to the river near the Cannifton Road train bridge after reports from the public.
A man was observed getting out of the river and he was located on Johnson Street not far away.
It turned out that the man, 36-year-old John Lawrence James Willis of no fixed address, was wanted by police on charges from earlier this year. Those charges include carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon and a drug charge.
He was taken to Belleville General Hospital for treatment and will appear at a bail hearing soon.
