7th heaven for Sandercock at Brighton Speedway

A little bit of rain didn’t dampen the spirits of a packed house, and it didnt’ hurt the track either at Brighton Speedway Saturday night.  In fact it added to the tackiness and excitement on the third of a mile clay oval.

It didn’t change anything for Charlie Sandercock either as he slid into the top spot on the 19th lap to win his 7th Late Model feature of the year.  (Full results below.)

While winning is old hat for Sandercock it was a night of firsts for everyone elese.

Derek Greig took off from the starting position and never looked back guiding No. 48 to victory in the Canadian Modified 25 lap main event. It was Greig’s first checkered flag in 6 years.

In the Thunder Stock division Adam Turner led the 21 car field to the green flag then led them across the finish line for his first win of the season.

And Emily Peterson grabbed the lead on the sixth lap to win the Comp 4 fifteen lap feature in a photo finish with Tommy Bailey.  It was the first career win for Peterson.

Caleb Severn rode to victory lane in the mini-stock feature.
