Following two incidents last month at Collins Bay Institution, staff seized packages containing contraband.
The first incident saw staff find a package in the yard of the medium security unit and the second in the minimum security unit.
The first package was found on July 1 and contained 529.7 grams of tobacco and 35.6 grams of marijuana.
The estimated institutional value of this seizure was valued at $16,272.80.
The second package contained 268.1 grams of tobacco, cell phones and accessories. The estimated value of this seizure was $16,434.40.
Police, along with Correctional Service Canada, are investigating.
A complete smoking ban was put in place at all federal correctional institutions in 2008.
