Guys get your lederhosen, white socks, and wide-brimmed hat ready to go. Ladies it’s time to find that white peasant blouse and long low cut dress.
It’s Oktoberfest in September.
The Trenton and Batawa Lions Clubs have teamed up to put on a real and very affordable Oktoberfest Celebration at the Lions Hall (Batawa Community Center) in Batawa September 14.
All monies raised will go to the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation for the purchase of state of the art IV pumps for the hospital.
An anonymous member of the Trenton Lions has promised to match whatever money is raised at the event.
Wendy Warner, executive director of the hospital foundation, says that in total, 67 IV pumps need to be replaced in the near future at a cost of $5,000 each.
“The new SMART technology used in these pumps will insure that every patient gets exactly the right medicine dose. It eliminates dosage errors and that is very important since almost every patient will use an IV and therefore a pump is involved.”
Oktoberfest entertainment starts at 3 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m. An oom-pah-pah band from Ottawa, the Rubes, will be there along with the Cold Creek Cloggers and the Tom Eastland Band.
Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. And revellers can enjoy a sausage, sauerkraut, and potato salad meal for just $5.
“This is a fun event almost anyone can afford, and taxi chits will be available” said Warner.
Tickets for the age of majority event are available at the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation, Trenton DBIA, Quinte West Chamber of Commerce, Trinity Fire and Security, Batawa Development Corporation, and from members of the Trenton and Batawa Lions Clubs.
