Belleville Police Service responded to 78 calls for service from July 28, 2019 at 5 a.m. to July 29, 2019 at 5 a.m.
Shoplifters
On July 28, 2019 shortly before noon, police responded to a north end retail store with regards to a theft that store security caught on camera which had occurred a few days previously. Police were able to identify the 31-year-old male suspect from the video and a warrant for theft is currently being sought for his arrest.
On July 28, 2019 at 3 p.m., police attended the same north end retail store with regards to the theft of a hammer. A description of the male suspect was broadcast and an officer on patrol located the male a short distance away. The 65-year-old Belleville male was arrested and released on an appearance notice for theft under $5000. Manos Tsichlas was given a court date of August 22 to answer to the charge.
Breach of Probation
On July 28, 2019, Belleville Police took into custody a 40-year-old female who had an arrest warrant issued for her in April of this year for failing to comply with her probation as a result of her failure to report to her probation officer. Donna Wapshaw was released on a promise to appear with a court date of August 22 to answer to the charge.
