You’ve heard of roasted peanuts but this could’ve been a bit over the top.
A quick response from Belleville firefighters kept a tractor-trailer load of peanut shells from going up in flames early yesterday afternoon.
The trailer was parked at the end of Putnam Industrial Road and a couple of the huge bags of peanuts had self ignited due to the high temperatures and were smouldering.
The trailer was unloaded with a lift truck and with the exception of the two bags there was no further damage.
