Canadian Forces Base Trenton has a new Wing Commander.
On the tarmac just outside 6 Hangar on Friday, Colonel R.G (Ryan) Deming assumed command from Colonel M.W (Mark) Goulden.
The event was full of pomp and circumstance, with political and military dignitaries of all levels. A full parade, music, the signing over of the position, moving speeches, and kind words made up the nearly two hour event.
Overseeing the Change of Command was Brigadier-General I.S (Iain) Huddleston. He told Colonel Deming that being Commander of 8-Wing is a challenge.
Huddleston added that it is always great to visit the home of Canada’s air mobility.
Colonel Mark Goulden says despite heading to Toronto, he will remain living in the Quinte region with his family.
Colonel Deming is no stranger to CFB Trenton. In 2002, Colonel Deming was posted to 426 Transport Training Squadron as part of the Tactical Training Flight.
It was not just a change of command for the Base Commander, but the Wing Chief Warrant Officer. Troy Zuorro not only completed his time at 8-Wing, but his 33 year career in the military. Friday was his last day. He is being replaced by CWO Dan Baulne.
