A Tyendinaga Township residents group hopes to get involved in one of the final processes that will lead to an expansion of Melrose Quarry in the township.
Licensing hearings will be starting next month for the quarry, and the group Citizens Against Melrose Quarry will ask to have a say at a Local Planning Appeal Tribunal prehearing.
The group is concerned the licensing agreement will allow more than just aggregate removal at an expanded quarry and might allow for asphalt or concrete plants to be built as well.
The prehearing takes place August 8 starting at 10:30 a.m. at Tyendinaga Township Recreation Hall.
