It was out of cool air conditioning and into the sweltering heat Saturday for Quinte West bank employees and others as they competed in the annual Banker’s Bed Races in downtown Trenton Saturday morning.
The event which sees teams racing while pushing a bed with people aboard raised around $8,000, enough to purchase a new bed for Trenton Memorial Hospital’s inpatient unit.
Competing this year were Quinte First Credit Union, Scotiabank, and TD Canada Trust, along with members of the Trenton Rotary Club, Trenton Lions Club, and the Trenton Canadian Forces Health Services Centre.
The fastest team was Quinte First Credit Union. The top fundraiser was Scotiabank while the Trenton Rotary and Lions clubs were awarded Spirit awards.
The event was part of the annual Leon’s Buy a Bed Campaign.
