Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is issuing a heat warning in advance of the hot and humid weather coming to the region Friday.
The health unit is asking people to watch for symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and to visit neighbours, friends and older family members who may be at higher risk during a heat event.
Signs to watch out for include: skin rash, muscle cramps, swelling of hands, feet and ankles, heavy sweating, dizziness, headache or fainting, nausea or vomiting, rapid breathing and heartbeat, extreme thirst and decreased urination with unusually dark yellow urine. If you experience any of these symptoms during a heat event, immediately move to a cool place and drink liquids, water is best.
The hot and sticky weather is expected to last until Sunday.
