Belleville Police Service responded to 70 calls for service from July 15, 2019 at 5 a.m. to July 16, 2019 at 5 a.m.
Trespassers
On July 15, 2019, police received a complaint from the owners of property In Point Anne known as the Point Anne Ruins. Owners have reported that based on Instagram and Narcity.com posts it appears trespassing has increased recently to the posted private property. Any trespassers can expect to be charged under the trespass to property act but more importantly police and property owners are warning that there are areas of the property where trespassers could find themselves in harm’s way due to the terrain and potential instability of existing structures. Parents are also being asked to speak to their children should they suspect that they are trespassing on the property.
Dogs continue to be left in vehicles
On July 15, 2019 at 9:55 a.m., police received a call to Pinnacle Street with regard to a dog left in a vehicle. Police attended and observed the dog which was not in distress at the time. The owner was located and cautioned with regard to her actions. Pet owners are reminded not to leave their pets in vehicles in the summer weather. Those who leave their pets in hot vehicles could face criminal prosecution should it cause harm to the animal.
Arrested on warrants
On July 15, 2019 at 7:40 p.m., police observed a male, known to them to be wanted, on Elgin Street. Police stopped the male, and after advising him he was wanted, he was arrested. Zach Green, 22, of Belleville was arrested on the outstanding warrant for failing to comply with probation. He was held for a bail hearing.
