Canada has lost to Italy in the quarter finals of the World Women’s In-Line Hockey championships in Barcelona Spain.
Belleville’s Jackie Jarrell scored her 9th goal of the tournament but was turned away in a shootout as Italy prevailed 3-2.
It’s the first loss for Canada but knocks them out of the medal round. It will be the first time in 11 trips to the World Championships Jarrell will not win a medal. She has two gold, six silver and two bronze from previous competitions.
Italy moves to the semi finals with the Czech Republic, the U.S. and host Spain.
