Members of the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), with assistance of members of the Haliburton Highlands OPP Crime Unit and OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) are currently investigating a homicide that oc curred in Highlands East in the early morning hours of Saturday July 6, 2019.
OPP officers have arrested 58 year-old Robert FERGUSON from Highlands East, he is charged with Second Degree Murder and is to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in City of Kawartha Lakes on July 8, 2019.
OPP investigators advise there is no fear for public safety.
The victim has been identified as 29 year-old Dylan Robert DAHLKE of Dysart Et Al, Ontario. A post mortem examination is scheduled for tomorrow at the Forensic Pathology Unit at the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto.
The investigation is ongoing under the direction of Detective Inspector Jim Gorry of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
