Britt Benn won’t be the only local rugby star headed to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
Belleville’s Matt Mullins and the Canadian Mens Rugby 7s team have also qualified after a 40-5 pasting of Jamaica in the final of the American’s North regional qualifying tournament in the Cayman Islands.
Canada outscored their opponents 293-15 while winning all 6 of their games.
Mullins is a graduate of Centennial Secondary School and alumnus of the Belleville Bulldogs. The 24-year-old Mullins made his Canada 7s debut at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto where they won the gold medal.
Last month Napanee’s Britt Benn and the Canadian Women’s Rugby 7s team also qualified for the Tokyo games.
