Belleville council has signed off on a three-year deal that will see a new medical specialist open a practice in the city in the very near future.
Dr. Scott Curran is a specialist in internal medicine and cardiology, specialties in short supply in the area.
He and the city have agreed that he will commit to working in Belleville for three years and in return will receive $75,000 from the city’s Physician Recruitment Program.
City staff are confident Doctor Curran will remain beyond the three year commitment.
Usually, doctors commit to five years local service and receive $150,000.
