Two Toronto area men have been charged after a crash on Highway 401 last Saturday.
Lennox and Addington OPP officers tried to stop a vehicle for speeding around 1:30 a.m., with the vehicle leaving the highway at County Road 41 and then getting back on the highway, but travelling in the wrong direction.
The car lost control and smashed into the median, with both occupants running from the scene, only to be tracked down a short time later by the OPP’s Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit.
Police found stolen property inside the car, including clothes and cash.
Nineteen-year-old Junior Hazzard of North York is charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Fail to comply with Probation, and;
- Three counts of fail to comply with Recognizance
Eighteen-year-old Malachi McKoy of North York is charged with:
- Possession of Property obtained by crime,
- Obstruct Peace officer
- Flight from peace officer
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Possession of an identity document
- Failure to stop after an accident
- And race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway traffic act
Nobody was injured and the pair was scheduled for a July 5 bail hearing.
