A group that’s been pushing for more regulation on what can and cannot be shipped in and out of the industrial marine port known as Picton Terminals has been granted the right to appeal a recent Superior Court decision.
A judge with the Ontario Court of Appeal recently granted Save Picton Bay the right to appeal and Save Picton Bay expects the appeal to move ahead later this year.
In a decision last year, the Superior Court ordered Picton Terminals to clean up and stop working on one part of the property but allowed the rest of the property to continue to be used as it has been.
Save Picton Bay maintains the ruling did not take into account many complaints about the port’s operation and wants to ensure nothing toxic will be allowed to be handled at Picton Terminals.
