The Belleville Police Service Traffic Safety Unit conducted one of their annual commercial motor vehicle safety and compliance enforcement campaigns yesterday.
These initiatives are focused on commercial motor vehicles or those motor vehicles that appear to be unsafe, and have a direct impact on road safety in our community.
Partner agencies from MTO, Kingston Police, and OPP attended and assisted. Nineteen inspections were conducted resulting in a total of six vehicles taken out of service for major safety/mechanical defects, resulting in five charges and two suspended drivers.
