Local banks, Trenton Rotary, Trenton Lions Club and members of the Canadian Forces Health Services Centre, Trenton are once again ready to roll beds down the streets in the third annual Leon’s Banker Bed Races on July 20 during the Festival on the Bay in Downtown Trenton.
The first two Banker’s Bed Races were a successful fundraiser in support of the Leon’s Buy-a-Bed campaign, raising more than $18,000 to help purchase hospital beds for the inpatient until at Trenton Memorial Hospital. Mike Eden, owner of Leon’s Trenton ocommented, “All of the staff and management at Leon’s Trenton and I are very excited to once again be a part of the Buy-a-Bed program in support of TMH. The campaign was very successful last year, raising over $44,000. Thanks in no small part to the Banker’s Bed Races’ ability to raise enough money to purchase one hospital bed valued at $8,000. With the help of local bankers, CFB Trenton and other service groups that have participated in previous years, we hope to achieve this lofty goal for such a worthy cause again. Together, we can show that “Part of the Family” is not just a slogan, but a community belief.”
The Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation supports the purchase of life-saving medical equipment, including hospital beds, at TMH, allowing medical staff to provide improved health care. Wendy Warner, Executive Director commented “Going into our third year of Bankers Bed Races, it has proven that not only banks in our community are eager to participate in the race and raise funds, but other groups have joined them from CFB Trenton and local service clubs. The banks have lots of customers so it’s a great way to get everyone involved and show their support of the Trenton Memorial Hosptial Foundation while having a LOT of fun! The Bankers Bed Races and Leon’s Buy a Bud campaing provide a large amount of financial support for the purchase of new beds.”
