Northumberland OPP say two bodies have been found in a car submerged in the Trent Severn Waterway near the Murray Canal Swing Bridge.
The car and bodies were found around 10:15 on Monday morning after a preliminary investigation involving the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit, the OPP Marine Unit, Technical Traffic Collision Investigators and Central Reason Forensic Identification Services.
The OPP’s Crime Unit has taken over the case and police say the investigation is still in the early stages.
Both bodies have been sent to the Center of Forensic Sciences for a post mortem exam and identities have not been released.
More details will be put out as they become available.
