BELOW IS A PRESS RELEASE FROM THE CITY OF QUINTE WEST ISSUED AT 2:15 SATURDAY AFTERNOON.
Water from the Trent River is no longer flowing across Trenton Frankford Rd. The private dam operator is continuing to work towards resolving the issue that caused this situation.
Trenton Frankford Rd. remains closed in Glen Miller. The closure of the road starts at Plant St. in Batawa and continues south to the bridge at Johnstown Rd. The bridge at Johnstown Rd. remains open, residents are being advised to avoid the area if possible.
McCauley Rd./Bernard Long Rd. is closed with access via Stockdale Rd. for local traffic only. A PRISM update has been sent out to local residents with information on the closure. There is no impact to municipal drinking water.
The extent of damage to the road is unknown at this time and city staff has already begun an investigation to determine a timeline for repairs, construction and reopening.
“The situation is now under control,” says Quinte West Mayor, Jim Harrison. “We will continue to monitor the situation as we move forward.”
The city will continue to issue updates as needed.
