Flooding is a concern everywhere on the shores of Lake Ontario and Prince Edward County council wants some action on it from senior levels of government.
A motion put forth by Mayor Steve Ferguson easily passed at a committee meeting Thursday, asking that the provincial and federal governments investigate the flood damage on the lake and in the St. Lawrence River with an eye to changing the way water levels can be handled to better the situation in future.
There is urgency because there was heavy flood damage just two years ago in 2017 and this spring’s flooding on Lake Ontario and the Bay of Quinte is even worse with serious economic and lifestyle impacts.
