The Hospice Quinte Care Centre announced its Heart and Hope Building Campaign Wednesday afternoon. The project aims to build the Quinte region’s first hospice in Bayside, just south of Bayside Secondary School.
The city of Belleville committed $1,000,000 of funding over six years which will go towards the new building, equipment and other necessary supplies. Quinte West has donated the land in Bayside where the new facility will be built. Tyendinaga Township has donated $75,000 over three years.
“The organization has been dreaming of a central location in Quinte and I’m excited for the new build at this location.” said Hospice Quinte board of directors president, Darcey French.
French adds that the organization has a set goal of $9,500,000 to raise in funding.
Hospice Quinte Executive Director Jennifer May-Anderson says the goal is to begin the building project with shovels in the ground by spring of 2020 and complete the construction by spring of 2021.
