Belleville city council will be asked to approve extra spending on two projects at its meeting Monday afternoon.
Council will see a request for an additional $134,000 to complete construction and renovation at 31 Wallbridge Crescent to create space for Environmental Services (water) and an amalgamation of the Environmental Services and Operations Services departments.
During demolition it was found that water and sewer infrastructure would need to be replaced with larger piping. A decision made after the contract for the work was finalized, to have two managers instead of just one, forced the creation of another manager’s office.
The current contractor, Tom Belch and Sons, is doing the extra work. The project’s cost would remain under the $3 million budget.
Meanwhile, council will be asked to approve another $84,000 for necessary mechanical repairs to upgrade two current Belleville Transit buses.
Mechanical and other issues were discovered while contracted repairs were being made. The extra work will not bring the project over the $300,000 budget.
