The city of Belleville launched its Pop-ups on the Bay project today at West River Side Park on Moira Street East.
Brick Oven Pizza, Doug’s Bicycle and Golden Scoop are the three local businesses set up for the community to enjoy this year.
The launch party from 4 p.m., to 7 p.m., includes live music, games, food and activities for all ages.
Belleville city councillor Ryan Williams says this year is the pilot project which he hopes will expand in coming years.
The event aims to activate Belleville’s waterfront, promote tourism and support local entrepreneurs.
Owner of Doug’s Bicycle, Tyler Allsopp says that his venue will be at West Riverside Park all summer.
“Events like these are a big thing for our community,” Allsopp adds.
Pop-ups on the Bay was initially supposed to be held on the bay at Victoria Park but the high water levels on the bay moved the project to West Riverside Park. The turnout at the launch party was great and Allsopp says he hopes that people will continue to come out and support Pop-ups on the Bay.
