Belleville’s Centennial Secondary School has been closed for the day following a string of bomb threats in the city.
A Belleville Police official tells Quinte News there have been five such threats over the past 24 hours.
The high school and neighbouring Sir John A Macdonald School were locked down around 1:00 p.m. yesterday following the first threat, with police saying two more similar threats were made around 5:00 p.m.
Police say all of those were unfounded.
Then this morning, police say two more threats were made around 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., leading to the decision to close the school.
The Hastings Prince Edward School Board says students at Sir John A. Macdonald are not affected today.
The police investigation into all of the threats continues.
