The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board had to make some cutbacks in hours of teaching and teaching personnel to come up with a balanced budget this year.
Last night (Monday), the board approved a budget of just over $416.3 million for the next school year.
Due to an overall funding decline there were reductions in some programs, particularly when it comes to mathematics, special education and the arts.
Trustees cut out the equivalent of 16 full-time math coaches to balance the budget.
The Kawartha Pine Ridge Board is receiving one million dollars less overall, but is expecting an enrolment increase of 550 students at the elementary level.
