A middle aged man was taken to Belleville General Hospital for assessment after he jumped into the fast running Moira River from the Catherine Street footbridge in the downtown yesterday evening (Monday).
The 50-year-old swam to shore without any serious physical injury. The incident occurred around 6 o’clock.
The Catherine Street footbridge has been closed off as it’s unsafe and is to be repaired and upgraded.
