It was a proud moment for a Quinte West resident. At a city council meeting Monday night Mayor Jim Harrison presented Alison Van Eykeren with the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers.
The medal was presented on behalf of the Governor General of Canada, the Right Honourable Julie Payette.
Van Eykeren volunteers with the Lower Trent Valley Fish and Game organization, the Community and Legal Advocacy Centre, and Operation Red Nose among others.
